Preserving and promoting Ethiopian Orthodox culture, language, history, and heritage in harmony with the faith and mission of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
Mission
The Ethio-American Cultural Institute works alongside Saint Mary Theological College to preserve, teach, and promote Ethiopian Orthodox culture and heritage for present and future generations. This mission strengthens Orthodox identity in the diaspora and supports the spiritual life of the faithful through education and cultural continuity rooted in the Church.
What We Preserve and Teach
- Language & Heritage — Ge’ez foundations, heritage studies, and cultural literacy
- Ethiopian Orthodox History — the Church’s spiritual history and witness across generations
- Liturgical Heritage — hymnody, worship traditions, and ecclesial culture
- Tradition and Identity — Orthodox values, community life, and faithful continuity
- Community Education — programs and sessions supporting families and youth

Relationship to Saint Mary Theological College
The Institute functions in harmony with the College’s mission of theological education and formation. While the College forms students for ministry and service, the Institute strengthens cultural continuity and preserves the heritage that supports Orthodox identity and faithful life in the diaspora.
