A Message from the Founding Priest

Beloved in Christ,

I give thanks to Almighty God, the Holy Trinity, and to the intercessions of the Holy Virgin Mary for His mercy and guidance in establishing Holy Trinity & Saint Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Christ is the Head and Founder of His Church, and we are only servants called to labor in His vineyard.

My journey in theological education and pastoral service began in Ethiopia, where I served as an instructor and academic leader at Holy Trinity Theological College in Addis Ababa. Later, in the United States, while ministering at Debre Selam MedhaneAlem Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, I discerned an urgent need in the diaspora: consistent divine worship, structured Orthodox teaching, and disciplined spiritual formation for families and the next generation.

In response to this burden, and in obedience to divine calling, Saint Mary Theological College was established in 2012 as a spiritual instrument to restore faith, discipline, and Orthodox consciousness. Yet it soon became clear that theological education cannot stand without a living parish life. Worship, sacramental life, prayer, and pastoral care must walk together with teaching.

For this reason, Holy Trinity & Saint Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church was established in 2015 as the sacramental home and liturgical heart of this mission—so that worship and formation would remain inseparable. Our vision is to deepen humanity’s relationship with the Creator, with fellow human beings, and with all creation, through daily and weekly divine services, faithful teaching, and Orthodox life in the contemporary world.

Beloved, the Church is not merely a building. It is the Body of Christ. It is the house of prayer, the school of faith, and the hospital for souls. Here we come not to be entertained, but to repent, to be healed, to be transformed, and to be united with Christ in the Holy Mysteries.
