Our Sunday School exists to form children, youth, and adults in Orthodox faith and life—through Scripture, Holy Tradition, prayer, worship, and moral discipline. We invite families to enroll their children and participate in the life of the Church.

Sunday School Schedule

Our main Sunday School classes meet in person at the church. We also provide a full functional Orthodox Learning Portal for Sunday School and adult classes—lesson materials, announcements, assignments, and resources (powered by Moodle). Zoom may be used when needed (optional).

Why Sunday School?

In the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, faith is not only learned—faith is lived. Sunday School trains the heart and mind to love God, honor parents, grow in holiness, learn the prayers of the Church, understand the Sacraments, and walk in the Orthodox way of life.

Age Classifications

We organize classes by age to provide appropriate lessons and spiritual guidance for each stage of growth.

Little Lambs Class
Ages 3–5 (Preschool / Kindergarten)
Short lessons, prayers, Bible stories, icons, reverence, and church behavior.
Children’s Class I
Ages 6–8 (Early Elementary)
Bible foundations, basic Orthodox teaching, prayers, obedience, and kindness.
Children’s Class II
Ages 9–11 (Upper Elementary)
Scripture overview, saints, feasts, prayer & fasting, and Sacraments introduction.
Pre-Teen Class
Ages 12–13
Confession, repentance, identity in Christ, discipline, and preparing for teen challenges.
Teen Class
Ages 14–17
Orthodox worldview, purity, friendships, digital life, Scripture & Fathers, defending the faith.
Young Adults Class
Ages 18–25
Faith & life direction, relationships, ethics, deeper Bible study, and service in the Church.
Adult Catechesis
Ages 26+
Creed, Sacraments, Liturgy explained, parenting in Orthodoxy, marriage & family life, spiritual struggle, prayer rule, and deeper theology.

What We Teach

Holy Scripture
Bible stories and lessons, memory verses, and how to read the Bible in the Orthodox way.
Faith & Tradition
Creed, Church Fathers, saints, feasts, fasts, and Orthodox Christian identity.
Prayer & Worship
Prayers, participation in the Liturgy, reverence, and liturgical life of the Church.
Moral Formation
Obedience, humility, purity, kindness, forgiveness, and Christian living at home and school.

Teen Sunday School (12-Week Program)

We are developing a structured 12-week teen program focusing on Orthodox identity, prayer life, Scripture, purity, friendships, digital life, and Christian service.

Sunday School is a sacred ministry. If you are able to teach, assist, or support, please contact the Church. Background checks and training may be required for children’s ministry.
